“Bill” was born in Watertown, Wis., and starred in high school sports before enrolling at Whitewater State in 1924. He earned three football letters and was on the 1926 championship team. He was president of 1928 senior class. Upon graduation he taught at Waukesha High and also was head track coach 1933-37, and assistant football and basketball coach, in 1939 he became president of Palmetier and Abell Lumber Co., Waukesha, a position he still holds. Served as Wisconsin Retail Lumbermen’s Association president 1955-57 and treasurer 1952-55. Director of National Retail Lumbermen’s Association 1955-62. Director of Retail Lumbermen’s Mutual Insurance Company 1961-64, and President since 1964. Received Whitewater State University’s “Distinguished Alumni Award” in 1966. Elected Whitewater State University Foundation president 1967. Elected Hall of Fame 1967.
