Nancy Rabensdorf was UW-Whitewater’s first female athlete to earn All-American honors in track and field. She placed fourth in the long jump at the 1981 Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Division III outdoor championship. Nancy and her brother, Rick, who earned wrestling All-American honors in 1980, are the only siblings in UW-W history to earn All-American recognition. Rabensdorf was a conference champion in both the high jump and long jump, as well as part of a conference winning relay team; she was UW-Whitewater’s team MVP three times and captain her senior year. She placed in at least one event, and sometimes in as many as three, in the Wisconsin Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic conference track meet each of her four years. She also earned four letters in field hockey, advancing to the national level, as an individual, in that sport in 1979 when she earned second team All-Midwest Region honors. She was a second team all-conference selection as a freshman and 1st team in her senior year, when she also served as UW-Whitewater’s captain. Since leaving UW-W, Rabensdorf has remained active in athletics as a coach and participant. As the head volleyball coach at Lodi (WI) High School since 1992, she has directed the team to two conference championships, three regional championships and two state rankings. She plays slow pitch softball, earning ASA Class C All-American honors in 1996 after leading her team to the national tournament in 1995 and 1996. She also played field hockey on the national level after graduating from UW-W. Before her Whitewater years, while at DeForest (WI) High School, Rabensdorf was active in basketball, volleyball and track. Her high school accomplishments include three individual conference championships and two team MVP awards. Now a resident of DeForest, Rabensdorf is a farm supervisor for Del Monte Foods. Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1997.
