Athletics Hall of Fame
I.W. Schaffer is being awarded the Distinguished Service Award of the Whitewater Athletic Hall of Fame. This award is granted to persons who have significantly contributed to the success of the athletic programs of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Dr. Schaffer is the third recipient of this award. Dr. Schaffer was a member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater faculty for 34.5 years. He was "The" coach for the College High School athletic teams. He served for eight years on the Board of Directors of the Athletic Hall of Fame and for many years on the University Intercollegiate Athletics Committee. He is a very loyal and strong "Warhawk" backer having been a member of both the Quarterback Club and the Tip-Off Club since their inceptions. I.W. Schaffer retired on January 31, 1982.
