Five time NAIA All-American, Tom Hoffman graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1965, where he won four letters in cross country and track. As a senior, he was conference champion in cross country and in the one mile run in track. At the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Tom was awarded a total of eight letters in cross country and track. In cross country he was conference champion for three years and in both his junior and senior years he was NAIA All-American. In track, Tom was the conference 2 mile champion for four years and in his sophomore, junior and senior years was NAIA All-American in the 6 mile run. Tom graduated from UW-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. As a member of the United States Track Team he competed in meets in Germany, Sweden, England and Italy. As an active member of the Chicago Track Club, he competed in Olympic trial marathon races three different times, placing 8th in 1972. He won the first Milwaukee Journal Al’s Run in 1978. Tom has taught science in the Hamilton-Sussex School District for 15 years and, as such, has been an active member of the United Lakewood Educators, Wisconsin Education Association, National Education Association and National Science Teachers Association. His hobbies include running, gardening, camping and travel. Tom and Janet have been married 6 years and have one son, Kendal. They currently reside in Mequon, Wisconsin. Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1985.
