Bob graduated from the high school of Freeport, Illinois in 1932 where he received 10 letters in football, basketball and track. A graduate of UW-Whitewater in 1940, he lettered 4 years in football and played on the 1937 championship football team. He also lettered 4 years in track competing in the dashes, low hurdles, and long jump. He never lost a low hurdle race in college competition. Bob coaced football and basketball at Plymouth High School; track and basketball at Elkhart Lake; and football, basketball, skiing and track at West Bend. The track teams he coached at West Bend made West Bend a track power for many years. Bob was active in summer recreation in West Bend where he coached little and junior league baseball. He served in the 9th Air Force during World War II and won the 100 yard dash and 200 yard dash at the 9th Air Force track meet in Frankfort, Germany. Bob and his wife Betty Jane have three children, Kay, Robin and Mark. After 34 years of teaching and coaching, he retired in 1974 and liveds in Three Lakes, Wisconsin.
