Pamela Ruder, a 1984 business education graduate, has continued the success she enjoyed as a basketball player for UW-W in her coaching and sports administration career.  Ruder earned three letters for the Warhawks, helping the team earn a postseason tournament berth each season.  The 1982 team went 25-8 and finished third in the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Division III championship; the 1983 team was 19-5 and moved into the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III tournament; and the 1984 squad went 17-11 while earning another NCAA III bid.  Ruder stands 17th in rebounding, 24th in assists, and 31st in scoring in the UW-Whitewater women’s basketball career record book. Ruder began her professional career teaching and coaching in Prairie du Chien and Lodi.  For the past nine years she has been a member of the athletic staff at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.  From 1991-96 she served as the assistant basketball coach and assistant to the athletic director.  During that time span, working under Kathi Bennett, Ruder helped the Titans compile a 138-25 record, including the 1996 NCAA III championship.  She became head coach following the national title, and UW-O has rolled to a 77-8 mark in three seasons.  That span includes two WIAC championships and three berths in the NCAA III tournament.  Ruder was named 1998 WIAC Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year, and she earned the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Women’s College Coach of the Year Award as well.  In 1999 she added the NCAA III Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year honor.  Ruder has also served UW-O as the assistant athletic director and senior women’s administrator since 1996, contributing to the Titans’ tenth place tie in the Sears Directors Cup for overall excellence for the 1998-99 school year.

Ruder is a native of Marshfield, attending Marshfield Columbus High School.
