Born in Ely, Minnesota, attended high school in Mashwauk, Minnesota, 1919-1923, lettering three years in football and basketball. At Whitewater Normal, Don excelled in football and basketball for three years and in 1927 was selected Whitewater’s “Outstanding Athlete.” His distinguished career as educator and coach has included four consecutive conference football championships at Elkhorn H.S., one city and three northside championships in basketball at Milwaukee North Division, and the best seven-year basketball record in conference history at Milwaukee North. Author of more than a dozen articles in athletic journals, Don is now high school principal in Elcho, Wisconsin. Elected Hall of Fame 1969.
