Bill Roper was a record-setting running back for the Warhawk football teams of the early 1970s.  Roper averaged 4.4 yards per carry as a senior when he earned all-Wisconsin State University Conference and all-National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics District 14 honors.  He was UW-W's captain and Most Valuable Player in 1973.  When he graduated in 1974, Roper was the school's career rushing leader.  A 1970 graduate of Rufus King High School in Milwaukee, Roper earned three letters in football and basketball.  He was an all-city football player and was voted the best athlete in the school his senior year.  Roper is a production supervisor with Pfister and Vogel company in Milwaukee.
