Montanye was a Warhawk standout in many areas of athletics. She was a member of the basketball team from 1972-1975, and during those four years she also played softball. She was on the field hockey team her freshmen year at UW-Whitewater, and played for the volleyball team her sophomore year. Following her graduation in 1975, Montanye began teaching physical education at Pecatonica Area School, where she has been for 25 years.   She has taken a number of coaching positions, including head volleyball coach for fourteen years, assistant softball coach for five years, head girls' track coach for four years, and head girls' volleyball coach for four years. Montanye is a native of Milton, Wisconsin, and currently resides in Blanchardville.
