Don Zickert graduated from UW-Whitewater in 1966 with a Bachelors of Science degree in education. Don was a four year letter winner in football. He was a three year starter for the football team, helping the team to sixteen wins in those three seasons. He was selected second team All-Wisconsin State University Conference as a defensive lineman in 1964. He then switched sides of the ball to earn first team all-conference in 1965. Prior to attending UW-Whitewater, Zickert competed in football, basketball and track at Beloit (WI) Catholic High School. He was captain of the football team, was named all-conference and played on a league champion basketball squad. Upon graduation from college, Zickert played seven years of semi-professional football, including stints with the Richmond Rebels of the Continental League and the Delavan Red Devils and the Rockford Rams of the Central States League. He was chosen all-league and served as a line coach while at Delavan. He returned to Beloit Catholic to coach football in 1983, in 1989-90 he coached the girl’s basketball team to second place in the state tournament and in 1990-91 the team was a semi-finalist at state. Don is president of Zickert Pattern Company in Beloit. Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1996.
