Al graduated from Glenbard East High School, Lombard, Illinois, in 1964 where he won seven letters in football, wrestling and track. As a junior in high school, he was selected to the All-Conference, All-District and All-Area Football teams and voted co-captain in his senior year by his teammates. During his senior year, he was selected All-Conference, All-District, All-Area and All-State and Most Valuable Player. He was awarded a football athletic scholarship to Souther Illinois University where he lettered in football his freshman and sophomore years. In 1966 he transferred to UW-Whitewater. Here he played middle linebacker and was selected All-Conference, All-District and 2nd Team All-American in 1967 and voted Most Valuable Player by his teammates. His senior year he was not only All-Conference, All-District, 1st Team All-Amercan and voted Most Valuable Player, but also received the W-Club All-American Award and was chosen as the Most Valuable Player in the WSUC by the Milwaukee Journal. In 1969, Al graduated from UW-Whitewater with a Bachelor's Debree and in 1973 received a Master's Degree; currently he is working toward a Ph.D. in Education. he has taught high school for the past 15 years in the Naperville School System in Naperville, Illinois. He is currently an active member in the Naperville Unified Education Association, the Illinois Education Association and the National Education Association and an active member of the National Art Education Association. His hobbies include golf, fishing and gardening. He and his wife, Sherry, have been married 15 years and they have two sons, Jeffrey, 12, and Jason, 10. He currently resides in Warrenville, Illinois, and is active in the Warrenville Athletic Association.
