Breidenbach accumulated a total of twelve letters, while playing four sports, for UW-Whitewater. She earned all-conference honors in three of those sports. In basketball Breidenbach led the Warhawks to Wisconsin Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships in 1980 and 1981, and into the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women tournament her senior year. She was also a team co-captain and All-WWIAC choice as a sophomore in 1979. Breidenbach is sixth in career scoring (950 points) and eighth in assists in the school record book. She also played softball for four years, earning all-conference honors at shortstop her junior and senior years. She was a co-captain of the team that earned a berth in the AIAW national tournament in 1980. Breidenbach divided her fall season between two years of field hockey where she again earned all-conference recognition and two years of volleyball. In the years since graduation she played in the AAU national basketball tournament three times with the Snitz team, she played in 22 national or world slow pitch softball championships, she has played in several state and regional level police/fire department games and she plays municipal league basketball. She was named to the all-world team at shortstop in 1975 and the All-American team at the national softball championship in 1988. While at Delavan-Darien (WI) High School, she became the first female to win the J. Arthur Moran Award, given to the outstanding senior athlete after starring in four sports (basketball, softball, swimming and track). Breidenbach, a resident of Milwaukee and active in Big Brothers/Sisters, is a City of Milwaukee firefighter. Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1997.
