Debra Hauser graduated magna cum laude with a business education major and a coaching minor in 1978. While at UW-Whitewater, she earned a total of five varsity letters while participating in field hockey for three years and basketball and softball for one year each. After only three years, including summer sessions, she graduated and accepted a teaching position in Darlington (WI) with the assignment of establishing a high school girl’s basketball program. She also was involved in coaching volleyball and track & field while at Darlington. In 1984 she became the Darlington School Districts athletics administrator, one of the few women athletics administrators at that time. In 1988 she was selected as the Wisconsin District 5 Athletics Director of the Year, the first female to be so honored. As an athletic administrator, she worked closely with the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association and in 1993 she became the Assistant to the Director of the WIAA. She is currently Assistant Director of the WIAA with the responsibilities of the state wide administration of eight high school sports programs and the officials program in Wisconsin. While at Clinton (WI) High School, she played basketball, tennis and field hockey, served as captain of the tennis and basketball teams and was MVP and conference singles champion in tennis. Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1996.
