Michael Lederer, a 1972 UW-Whitewater graduate, helped the 1969 football team win the Wisconsin State University Conference championship. He lettered for times in football and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player in 1971, when the UW-Whitewater defense was ranked No. 1 in the nation against the run. He was also an all-WSUC and all-NAIA District 14 selection in 1970. In addition, Lederer lettered in the hammer throw and discus three years, earning all-NAIA District 14 honors each time in the hammer throw. He competed in the NAIA National Track Meet held in Billings, Montana in 1970 and 1971. While a student at Grafton High School, Lederer earned all-conference honors in football in 1965 and 1966 and helped to lead the team to conference championships in 1964 and 1966. He lettered three times in football and in track, setting the school record in the discus, and earned two letters in wrestling, where he was team captain and Most Valuable Wrestler in 1967. After graduating from UW-Whitewater, Lederer began his professional business career at the Milwaukee Accounting Office of the Woolworth Corporation. During his 23 years with the company, he progressed through various levels of increased responsibility to his current position of Managing Director of the Corporate Accounting Center in Milwaukee, a position he has held since 1993. He has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1982, the year he became a member of the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has also been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants since 1983. He earned his Master’s Degree from Marquette University in 1988. Michael has served as a member of the Grafton Volunteer Fire Department since 1973 and currently maintains an elected position on its Board of Directors. Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1995.
