Tom Fick served as sports information director at UW-Whitewater from 1976-2014.  During his tenure, Tom saw the school transition from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) to NCAA Division III and helped foster the growth of Warhawk Athletics into a national power.  UW-Whitewater claimed 17 national championships during Tom's time as SID and an 18th title before his retirement from the institution in January 2015.  He mentored dozens of student workers during his 30-plus years in the profession, referring to his relationships built with students as "absolutely the best part of my job."  Tom also served a number of years on the Academic Staff Assembly, a staff governance group, including chairperson from 1990-1994.  In addition to his experiences at UW-Whitewater, Tom worked with the local organizing committees in media relations for the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee (1984) and the Atlanta Olympic Organizing Committee (1996).  He was also selected to the United States Olympic Committee Press Operations staff at U.S. Olympic Festivals in 1986 (Houston), 1987 (North Carolina) and 1989 (Oklahoma City). Fick was chosen by the USOC to be a member of the U.S. Olympic Team on the press operations staff for the Summer Games in Seoul, Korea in 1988.  Most recently, he served as a volunteer in media services at the Boston Marathon from 2010-12 and as a Press Operations Supervisor for the equestrian competition at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.  In 2014, Tom earned the College Sports Information Directors of America Lifetime Achievement Award and a WIAC Special Recognition Award.  He currently resides in Fort Atkinson.
