A. G. Bostad, currently the principal of P.J. Jacobs high school in Stevens Point, was a graduate of the Whitewater Normal School in 1926 with a three-year degree and the State Teachers college with a bachelors degree in 1936.  Bostad attended the University of Denver during the summer and received his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1945.  During his college career, Bostad was a member of the Whitewater football teams of 1922-24, a member of the basketball unit in 1923 and 1924, and served as assistant football coach in 1925.  Following his graduation in 1926, he worked for the James Manufacturing Co. of Fort Atkinson, taught school in Melrose, Wisconsin from 1929-31, and owned a restaurant in Whitewater in 1927-28.  In 1931 he joined the faculty of Stevens Point high school and has been a teacher, coach, and principal during his thirty-four year tenure.  In addition to his work in the Whitewater area, he also played football with the Delavan Red Devils, the Fort Atkinson Black Hawks, and the Badger All-Stars.  He played against the Ernie Nevers Eskimos.  Bostad is a charter member of the Wisconsin Coaches Association, and is a member of the Central Wisconsin Teachers Association, the National and State Education Associations, the University of Wisconsin Alumni Association, the Whitewater University alumni Association, the "W" Club Alumni Association, and various committees of the State Secondary Principals Association.  Active in community affairs, Bostad was chairman of the United Fund drive in 1963-65, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Fire Protection Committee from 1942-56, and a member of the Boy Scouts Education Committee.  Bostad is an honorary member of the Exchange Club and has been awarded a citation from the American Legion for meritorious and outstanding educational service at the local level.  Bostad is married and has three sons.
