Follis, who will retire in September as a program assistant in UW-W’s University Relations, Alumni and Foundation Office, has been of service to intercollegiate athletics in a variety of roles.  She left UW-Superior, where she had worked for nine years, to begin employment at UW-Whitewater as the program assistant in intercollegiate athletics in 1971.  She was the first program assistant to handle all assignments for both men’s and women’s intercollegiate teams as the women’s program grew began in the 1970’s and continued to grow.  Follis worked with four athletic directors (Forrest Perkins, Martha van Steenderen, Willie Myers, Dianne Jones), and in 1990 moved to the university’s Foundation Office, where she voluntarily continued to work with the account for women’s athletics. Away from the office, Follis also volunteered at UW-W women’s golf outings and the annual W-Club outing.  She has been active for many years, and remains involved, in administrative functions for the UW-W Tip-Off Club and Quarterback Club.  She is a past president of the Women’s Basketball Booster Club, and has been elected to the Board of Directors of the UW-W Athletic Hall of Fame, and organization she has assisted unofficially for years. Follis has also taken many UW-W students, including athletes, under her wing, in her role as a mom away from home.  She and her husband, Jim, reside in Whitewater.
