Michael Gorecki, a 1973 UW-Whitewater graduate, helped the 1969 football team to a Wisconsin State University Conference title.  He was a three-year letterwinner for the football team from 1969-1972.  In that span, he earned all-Wisconsin State University Conference honors and all-NAIA District 14 honors as well as being honored as an Outstanding College Athlete of America.  Gorecki also earned team Most Valuable Player Honors at quarterback and was twice named WSUC Offensive Player of the Week in his career.  While a student at Boys Tech (now Milwaukee Tech) High School, Gorecki won three conference championships in football.  He was a team captain and was named all-city and all-region in 1968, when the Associated Press and United Press International both voted Tech as the top team in the state.  In addition, he was named to the all-time Milwaukee Tech football team and was named as one of the top five players ever at Tech by former coach Jim Richardson.  Gorecki also lettered twice in baseball and once in basketball in high school.  For the last seven years, Gorecki has served as wide receivers coach for Carroll College in Waukesha and has worked independently with high school quarterbacks in southern Wisconsin.  Gorecki played semi-pro football for the West Allis Spartans from 1973-76 and was named All-American quarterback in 1979 and 1981 at the National Touch World Football Championships.  He was also a freshman football coach at Waukesha North in 1973 and the offensive coordinator for the UW-Whitewater freshman football team in 1983.  Gorecki has also been extremely active in the community.  He gives motivational speeches to troubled youth, speaks at grade school athletic banquets and was twice recognized by District Attorney E. Michael McCann for Action in the Community.  He currently lives in Waukesha with his wife Pamela and three daughters.
