Athletics Hall of Fame
Eugene is a graduate of Racine Washington Park High School where he lettered in football, basketball and track and was the recipient of Racine's American Legion Athletic Award. At the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Eugene lettered three years in football where he played end. He was captain of the defensive unit on the 1950 championship team. Eugene lettered four years in basketball where he played guard and forward and was a member of the 1952 championship team. He graduated from UW-W with a Bachelor of Education degree in 1952 and a Masters Degree in 1962. Eugene has been in education for twenty-five years, three years in Dundee, Illinois and the last twenty-one years at Union High School in Union Grove, Wisconsin. He coached football and track and was head basketball coach for seventeen years until his recent retirement from coaching. Currently Eugene is working in guidance and counseling. He is a member of several professional organizations and is active in club and community activities. He is married and the father of three children.
