Zizzo wrestled for four years at UW-Whitewater, lettering each year. He was also a four-time letterwinner in high school. For the Warhawks, he was a three-time conference champion, the first in school wrestling history, taking the titles in 1973-75.  Zizzo was also a key to UW-W’s team titles in 1974 and 1975.  He also placed fourth at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics championship in 1974 and second in the same tournament a year later, earning All-American honors both times.  Zizzo is ranked tenth in career winning percentage and pins, ninth in team points, and thirteenth in win at UW-W. He was a team co-captain as a junior and senior. Zizzo graduated from UW-Whitewater in 1976. He went on to be a math teacher at Lake Park (IL) High School for the next sixteen years. He moved to Oklahoma, where he taught and coached at Pryor High School and Stillwell High School. In 1977, Zizzo took the head wrestling job at Stillwell, before returning to Pryor as head coach.. He moved on to Brookfield (IL) High School, ending up at Lake Park High School, where he was assistant head wrestling coach from 1984-1987. Zizzo is a native of Villa Park, Illinois, and currently resides in Batavia, Illinois.
