Theresa Seaquist, a 1986 graduate with a degree in communications,  was the first woman in UW-Whitewater history to earn all-American honors in cross country. Seaquist finished fourteenth in the WWIAC cross country championship in 1985, then moved up to tenth place as a senior in ’86 when she earned first team all-conference honors.  In 1986 she also finished fifth in the NCAA III Midwest Regional, earning a trip to the national championship where she garnered all-American honors by placing twenty-fifth.  Seaquist’s time of 18:02.2 in the ’86 regionals set a school record, and it remains in the record books as the third fastest time in UW-W women’s cross country history.  She was Whitewater’s Sportswoman of the Year for cross country in 1986. Seaquist also excelled on the track for UW-W.    She won three conference championships in the 1985 WWIAC Indoor Track and Field Championship (600 yards, 880 relay, mile relay), and three more later in the spring outdoors (440, spring medley relay, mile relay).  She was also an all-American in two events.  Seaquist placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles in the 1984 NCAA III Outdoor Track and Field Championship, then was part of UW-W’s second place 4x400 meter relay team  at the 1985 NCAA III outdoor meet.  She also qualified for other events, finishing twelfth in the 400 meters in ‘84, and tenth in the 800 in 1985.  Seaquist still holds the school 400 meter record indoors (59.54), and is a member of two record-setting relays (4x200 and 4x400). Seaquist graduated from Beloit (WI) Turner High School in 1981, after attending Beloit Catholic High School for two years.  She lettered in volleyball, track, cross country and basketball in high school.  A competitive triathlon competitor, Seaquist resides in Chicago, Illinois and is employed by Arizona Sun Essentials/Panama Jack.
