Deborah Burgess earned a total of five letters in two sports as a Warhawk.  She lettered three times in tennis and twice in basketball.  Burgess was captain of the tennis team for the 1976-77 season and was a member of the team that won the UW-Whitewater Invitational doubles title in 1977.  She was named the UW-W Sportswoman of the Year for tennis after the 1977 season.  Burgess earned three letters in both basketball and tennis while at Racine Horlick High School.  Deborah received her Bachelor's degree in 1977 and her Master's of Business Administration in 1979.  She has remained active in tennis and is currently ranked in Wisconsin in both women's open and 35 doubles, mixed doubles and 35 singles.  She is currently ranked 27th nationally in the United States Tennis Association for women's 35 singles.
