NAIA All-American Jim Walters graduated in 1966 from Pottsville High School in Pottsville, Pennsylvania.  In high school he earned a total of seven athletic letters, three in football, two in basketball, one in baseball and one in track.  In football he was All-Conference two years and All-State one year.  He spent three years, 1967 to 1970, in the United States Army.  Included in his military service was a tour of duty in Vietnam.  He was attached to the First Air Cavalry Division where he was awarded numerous citations for valor.  He also received the distinguished service cross for the action he saw in the City of Hue during the "Tet Offensive" of 1968.  He was also stationed in Ethiopia and Washington, D.C.  He was honorably discharged in 1970 with the rank of Sergeant.  While at UW-Whitewater Jim lettered four years in football.  He had the privilege of starting in the first football game ever played in Warhawk Stadium.  His accomplishments include three years All-Conference, three years All-NAIA District 14 and the 1973 NAIA All-American Team.  He led the team in tackles three straight years and was team captain his senior year.  Jim graduated from UW-Whitewater in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree.  For twelve years Jim worked for Krause Milling Corporation, a grain processing plant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he was the Production and Credit Manager.  For the past year Jim has been employed by the Payco Corporation in Brookfield, Wisconsin, the largest collection agency in the country.  Their clients include American Express, Bank of New York and the UW System among many.  In his spare time Jim enjoys reading, tennis and running.  In 1984 he ran and "finished" the LAKEFRONT Marathon.  Jim resides in Hartland, Wisconsin and has a daughter, Tina, who is currently a student at UW-Rock County.
