Dan Brunner, a 1976 graduate, was a four-time letterwinner for the UW-Whitewater football team. He played on two Wisconsin State University Conference championship teams in 1974 and 1975. Brunner was a two-time First Team all National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics District performer, as well as being a First Team All-WSUC performer (1974-75) and was an Honorable Mention selection in 1973. In 1975, Brunner's senior year was capped by his selection on the NAIA Honorable Mention All-American teams. Brunner, who had two different tryouts with the Green Bay Packers, played seven years of semi-professional football for both the Delavan Red Devils and the Racine Gladiators from 1977-84. He has since taken his football knowledge to the sidelines where he led Hartford High School to two undefeated conference titles in 1991 and 1992, after coaching 12 years at St. Francis High School. In addition to his coaching, Brunner also teaches science at Hartford.
