John Buckley '82 is a proud UW-Whitewater alumnus, former Warhawk student-athlete, and one of the most dedicated champions of Warhawk Athletics. As the 1982 Co-Captain of the #9 Nationally ranked Men's tennis team, Buckley and his doubles partner, Jim Woyahn, achieved a National Doubles ranking of 15th – an extraordinary accomplishment that marked the beginning of his lifelong commitment to the program. Together with his wife, Wendy, John has become one of the most generous supporters of UW-Whitewater Tennis. Over the past 20+ years the Buckleys have provided leading financial contributions to assist in creating a Tennis Endowment Fund, contributing to the Tennis Facilities Fund and supporting major capital improvements to both the indoor and outdoor complexes. Their generosity extends beyond financial gifts. The Buckleys have hosted the men's and women's teams during their annual spring trips to Southern California and have mentored student-athletes for years, creating a lasting impact on the program and its players. John's leadership extends across the university. He currently serves on the UW-Whitewater Foundation Board and, alongside Wendy, is Co-Chair of the university's "Our Stories, Our Future" $50+ million comprehensive fundraising campaign. The Buckleys exemplify what it means to give back – through time, talent, treasure and unwavering Warhawk pride.
