John Borta competed for the UW-Whitewater men's swimming and diving and team from 1998-2002. The Wonder Lake, Ill., native was a five-time All-American in freestyle events, claiming national runner-up honors in the 200-yard freestyle at the 2000 NCAA Division III Championships. Borta won six Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships in freestyle events and garnered 11 All-WIAC medals overall. A three-time WIAC Men's Swimmer of the Week, Borta still holds school records in the 1000-yard freestyle (9:41.54) and the 1650-yard freestyle (15:57.09). Borta graduated with a bachelor's in physical education and a minor in coaching.
