Mark Dennis, a 1973 cum laude graduate, was a four year starter at defensive back for the Warhawk football team. Dennis earned Honorable Mention All-Wisconsin State University Conference honors each of the four years. The Warhawk defense was ranked first in the WSUC in 1970, 1971 and 1972, and second in 1973. In 1972 the defense was ranked number one in the nation for NAIA schools. In addition to duties as corner and safety, Dennis also punted in 1972 and 1973. He led the conference in 1972 with a punting average of 39.4 yards while setting the school record with an 82 yard punt against River Falls. As a freshman, Dennis led the team with five interceptions. During his senior year he won the team award for the highest graded defensive player. Dennis was mentioned on the WSUC Scholastic Honor Roll all four years and was a Scholar-Athlete medal winner his senior year. While at Whitewater High School, Dennis participated in football, basketball and track. He was all-conference and team MVP in football and captain of both the football and basketball teams. He was chosen to receive the National W Club Award and the American Legion Athlete Award his senior year. After graduation from UW-W, Dennis earned a master’s degree in cardiovascular physiology from Colorado State University. Since 1978 he has run his own construction business, King Country Construction, in Seattle, Washington. Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1996.
