Los Angeles Rams' draftee Kirk Behrendt graduated from Menomonee Falls High School in 1967 where he earned four athletic letters in football and basketball. As captain of his high school football team, he received All-Braveland Conference honors at defensive end and offensive tackle. He was voted MVP on defense and elected to the Milwaukee Journal All-Star Team. Recruited by Forrest Perkins, Kirk turned down several scholarship offers in order to play on the nationally ranked football team at UW-Whitewater. As an offensive tackle, Behrendt developed to 6-5 and 267 pounds and was timed at 4.85 in the 40 yard dash. While he preferred offense, Kirk was also adept at the defensive position. In 1970, Kirk became the sixth NAIA All-American who performed under Coach Forrest Perkins and was drafted by both the Los Angeles Rams and the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. While on campus, Kirk played on two WSUC championship teams, was twice All-Conference, and was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity and the Whitewater W Club. He graduated from UW-Whitewater in 1971 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. After playing one season with the Los Angeles Rams, he obtained his release and in 1972 signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He returned to the United States in 1973 and finished his playing days by playing two years in the Central States Football League with the Delavan Red Devils and the West Allis Spartans. For the past thirteen years, Kirk Behrendt has been employed by Consolidated Freightways, one of the nation's top LTL Common Carriers. He is currently an operations manager for CF in Milwaukee. Kirk and his wife, Chris, have three children, Kirk Jr., 19, Jason, 17, and Colleen, 12.
