NAIA All-American, Cecil Austin graduated from Boys' Technical High School in Milwaukee in 1963 where he was the recipient of the Most Valuable Athlete Award, the Civic Music award and the Alumni Award for Outstanding Graduating Senior. Cecil earned four letters in wrestling and also participated in football and track. At UW-Whitewater, Cecil was president of his freshman class, drum major of the Warhawk marching band, president of the men's chorus, a member of Phi Mu Alpha, professional music fraternity, and graduated with two degrees in music education. As an athlete, Cecil established three career records in wrestling as he concluded four years of varsity competition with a 49-15-1 record. He was undefeated in conference competition as a junior and senior and lost only two matches as a sophomore. He was selected to the NAIA All-District 14 team for three years and in 1967 became an NAIA All-American with a third place finish in the national tournament, at that time the highest individual performance for a Warhawk wrestler. During the summer of 1965 Cecil coached and competed in the United Arab Republic as the first Wisconsin college student to participate in Operation Crossroads Africa. Dr. Austing received his masters degree from UW-Milwaukee in education of the emotionally disturbed and learning disabled. He received his PhD from the University of Minnesota in educational psychology and problems of urban education. He has also completed a two year internship in clinical psychology. Dr. Austin has taught at the college level for five years, at UW-Whitewater, the University of Minnesota and the University of Northern Colorado. While in Colorado, Dr. Austin served on the Governor's Task Force on Youth, represented Summit County on the State Mental Health Board, initiated wrestling in the county's high school, middle school and elementary school, trained cross-country skiing instructors for the Special Olympics and was certified by the Rocky Mountain Ski Instructors Association. Dr. Austin in presently the Assistant Principal of Vincent High School in Milwaukee..
