Laube began showcasing her athletic talent at Orfordville Parkview High School, becoming a four-time letterwinner in three sports: track, volleyball, and basketball. During high school she was also named Scholar Athlete of the Year and twice was named Athlete of the Year. At UW-Whitewater, she was a three-time letterwinner for the women's basketball team, and a two-time letterwinner for the volleyball team. She helped the volleyball team take the conference championship in 1980. Laube's basketball career was also highly successful, leading the team to conference championships two years in a row, and finishing in third place in the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Division III Final Four in 1982. She was named first team all-conference and all-championship Division III national tournament in 1982, leading UW-W to a 25-8 record.  In the Warhawk career record books, Laube ranks twenty-fourth in games played , and twenty-second in scoring. Laube graduated from UW-Whitewater in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. After graduation, she became the assistant women's basketball coach at UW-Stout, and then went on to coach the freshmen volleyball team at Menomonie Junior High School. She then  taught and coached in the Bruce School District, before continuing her coaching at  New Franklin and Clark, and jobs with United Parcel Service and then 3M. She is presently working on a business plan to open a health club in Columbia, Missouri, where she currently resides.
