Phillip Dorr was a member of the class of 1915, and set an excellent record in several sports while an undergraduate at Whitewater.  He was primarily noted for his performance as quarterback of the championship team of 1914.  As a result of his outstanding play during the campaign, he was named to the All-Conference team for the Normal Schools.  In addition to his work with the football squad, he also participated with the baseball and track units.  He was left fielder and captain of the 1915 State Championship club, which copped ten straight games in the Normal School conference.  He was a dash man with the first year track squad in 1915.  Following his graduation in 1915, Dorr entered the armed services and saw three years of action with the US Air Force.  He served as an aviator with the American forces until 1918 and followed as a high school teacher until 1920.  In 1920 he joined the staff of the State of Pennsylvania, where he was deputy commissioner of the state police.  In this capacity he organized and trained the first police traffic division in the United States.  Dorr continued in this post, receiving several national honors and recognitions, until 1937.  In 1939 he joined the Mack Truck Corporation, where he was in charge of security for all of the plants.  He continued in that position until his retirement in 1955.  He is a member of the International Police Chiefs Association, the Pennsylvania Police Chiefs Association, and a life member of the American Legion.  Currently retired, Dorr is interested in traffic safety and also expressed appreciation for spectator sports.
