Robert Weigandt is being awarded the Distinguished Service Award of the Whitewater Athletic Hall of Fame.  This award is granted to persons who have significantly contributed to the success of the athletic programs of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.  Mr. Weigandt is the second recipient of this award.  Robert Weigandt was a member of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater faculty for thirty years.  He served as head basketball coach from 1950 through 1966 during which time he won two conference championships.  He was head golf coach from 1950 through 1971 winning one conference championship and head tennis coach from 1950 through 1966 during which time he tied for the conference championship twice.  He also served as an assistant football coach for eight years, six years with Coach Ed Schwager and two years with Coach Forrest Perkins.  Robert Weigandt retired on June 30, 1980.
