“Squig,” a Whitewater native, attended College H.S., excelling in football, basketball, and track and winning eight letters. Won first place in mile in Class C State Meet as a sophomore. At Whitewater State, 1929-1934, “Squig” starred in football, basketball, and track and for three years- played left end on 1932 championship team. As educator and basketball coach at Marshall H.S. for eighteen years, he won four championships, never earned a technical foul, and won praise as “the best basketball coach in the State.” After retiring as Superintendent-Principal at Marshall, he became a general contractor, building more than 100 structures including a development bearing the name- Squigville. A member of the Marshall Fire Department for 25 years and a charter member of the Marshall Lions Club. Elected Hall of Fame 1969.
