Lauren Cruz Battersby was an All-American outfielder for the UW-Whitewater softball team from 2007-10. Battersby helped lead the Warhawks to a national runner-up finish in 2008. A three-time First Team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honoree, Battersby was an All-Region selection three times and garnered Third Team All-America honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association in 2008. During her tenure, UW-Whitewater claimed two WIAC titles and made a pair of appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament. A lefty power hitter, Battersby was phenomenal at driving in runs. She is ranked second in the conference record book in career runs batted in (163) and third in career homeruns (36). Battersby also holds two top five marks for homeruns in a single season and three marks among the top eleven in WIAC history in RBI in a season. In the UW-Whitewater record book, Battersby holds the record for homeruns in a game with two – a feat she accomplished twice, holds top six marks for season records in RBI, homeruns and at bats. In the career record book, Battersby is second in both RBI and homeruns while adding top ten marks in runs scored (125), at bats (542), hits (186) and doubles (34). A native of Des Plaines, Illinois and a graduate of Maine West High School, Battersby earned a bachelor's degree in communications with an emphasis in advertising in 2010.
