A Mayville High School graduate, Dick excelled in football and basketball from 1936 through 1938. He was all conference in both sports. In college Dick starred in football, basketball and track. In basketball he was all conference in 1943when UW-Whitewater won its first championship in twenty years. Dick graduated in 1943. He played pro-basketball with the Oshkosh All-Stars in 1945 and with the Milwaukee Shooting Stars, Milwaukee’s first professional basketball team, in 1947. He served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II as a Bombardier-Navigator. Dick began his insurance career in 1950 and now operates his own company in Casper, Wyoming. He was recently saluted in a Wyoming publication for his many fine years of service to his community and to the insurance industry. Elected to the Hall of Fame, 1975.
