Getting To Know The Warhawks – Ryan Vedner, Wrestling

Ryan Vedner (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestling team is featured in the latest edition of Getting To Know The Warhawks Presented by UW Credit Union.
 
In 2019-20, Vedner represented the Warhawks at both the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship and the NCAA Upper Midwest Regional. He finished with a 1-2 record at 165 pounds at the conference championship, and tallied a 2-2 mark at 184 pounds at the regional tournament.
 
For the year, Vedner finished 14-13 with one pin, one technical fall and three major decisions. He finished second at 174 pounds at UW-Oshkosh's Dan Gable Open, second at 174 at the Harper Open and fourth at 165 at UW-Eau Claire's Don Parker Open.
 
As a freshman in 2018-19, Vedner finished the year with a record of 15-8, including seven pins and one major decision, and placed sixth at 165 pounds at the WIAC Championship. He won the 165-pound bracket at the Don Parker Open and finished fifth in the 174-pound silver bracket at the Luther (Iowa) Open.
 
A two-year member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll, Vedner is majoring in history education with a minor in coaching.
