Vanessa Olinger (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team is featured in the latest edition of Getting To Know The Warhawks Presented by UW Credit Union.
In 2020, Olinger helped UW-Whitewater finish as runner-up at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship/National Collegiate Gymnastics Association West Regional. She tied for 13th on balance beam with a season-best 9.500 and tied for 18th on the floor exercise with a score of 9.425.
Olinger averaged a 9.484 on floor and a 9.020 on beam during the season. She scored a season-high 9.700 on floor in a dual meet against UW-Stout.
As a sophomore in 2019, Olinger averaged a 9.308 on beam and a 9.281 on floor. Her top performances of that season included a 9.525 on floor and a 9.650 on beam. Olinger finished 25th on beam and tied for 36th on floor at the NCGA Championship.
A member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in 2019-20, Olinger is majoring in communication with emphasis in public relations.
