Michael Berentes (Rock Falls, Ill./Rock Falls) of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater football team is featured in the third edition of Getting To Know The Warhawks Presented by UW Credit Union.
Berentes, a tight end, has helped the Warhawks claim back-to-back Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships and compile a record of 33-6 over the last three seasons. UW-Whitewater reached the semifinals of the NCAA Playoffs in 2018 and claimed its 10th appearance in the Stagg Bowl (Division III national championship game) in 2019.
In 2019, Berentes caught nine passes for 45 yards, including a 3-yard touchdown at UW-Oshkosh, in 14 games played. He posted two receptions for eight yards in the team's 26-7 victory at Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas) in the national quarterfinals.
As a tight end, Berentes played a key role as a blocker for the Warhawks' rushing attack, which led the conference with 195.7 yards per game. UW-W also averaged 30.1 points per game.
For his career, Berentes has appeared in 24 games and has caught two touchdowns.
Berentes is majoring in physical education.
