Peyton Attig (Oak Lawn, Ill./Harold L. Richards) of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team is featured in the latest edition of Getting To Know The Warhawks Presented by UW Credit Union.
In 2019-20, Attig helped the Warhawks claim the Central Intercollegiate Bowling Conference championship. The team finished the season with a final ranking of No. 17 in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) national poll, including third among Division II and III institutions.
In seven NCAA-sanctioned tournaments that included 556 completed frames, Attig averaged 17.99 pins per frame and tallied a fill percentage of 78.5 percent. She threw strikes on nearly 35 percent of her attempts and converted nearly 70 percent of makeable multi-pin spares. Attig finished second on the team in traditional games at two tournaments.
As a sophomore in 2018-19, Attig completed 635 frames, averaging 18.86 pins per frame and an 80.8 percent fill percentage. She was named a UW-Whitewater Subway Athlete of the Week after leading the Warhawks with a seventh-place finish in traditional games at the 2018 Warhawk Classic.
Attig completed 300 varsity frames in her first year with the program in 2017-18.
A three-year member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll, a three-time NTCA All-Academic honoree and a member of the 2019-20 CIBC Academic Honor Roll, Attig is majoring in special education. She is in her second year as a team captain.
