Joey Pumo (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's soccer team is featured in the latest edition of Getting To Know The Warhawks Presented by UW Credit Union.
Pumo helped the Warhawks win the American Collegiate Athletic Association championship and reach the first round of the NCAA Tournament in 2019. He was named second team All-ACAA after posting three goals, including one game winner, and three assists in 20 matches played, including 11 as a starter.
Pumo tallied the team's first goal at Loras (Iowa) on Oct. 29 of last year in a thrilling, 4-3 UW-Whitewater victory.
As a sophomore in 2018, Pumo registered two goals and one assist in 14 matches, including 10 starts. He recorded the game-winner in the Warhawks' 1-0 triumph over Washington-St. Louis.
Pumo appeared in 15 matches, including 10 as a starter, in 2017. He finished his rookie campaign with two goals and two assists.
A two-time member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Scholastic Honor Roll, Pumo is majoring in media arts and game development (MAGD). He was an award winner at UW-Whitewater's MAGD Expo last spring.
