Anna Perona (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy) of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's soccer team is featured in the latest edition of Getting To Know The Warhawks Presented by UW Credit Union.
Perona helped the Warhawks sweep the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships and finish with a 14-6-3 record in 2019.
A midfielder, Perona appeared in 22 of the team's 23 matches, posting assists in UW-Whitewater's 3-0 victory over Ripon and in the team's NCAA Tournament first round match against Illinois Wesleyan.
As a sophomore in 2018, Perona played in 20 matches, including four as a starter. She scored the game-winning goal in the Warhawks' 1-0 win over DePauw (Ind.), and tallied one assist in the team's 2-0 triumph over UW-River Falls.
Perona registered one goal and two assists in 19 matches, including seven starts, during her rookie campaign in 2017, when she helped UW-W reach the NCAA Tournament. She recorded three points (one goal, one assist) in the team's victory over UW-Platteville.
A two-year member of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Scholastic Honor Roll, Perona is majoring in integrated science and business with a minor in biology.
