The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed Saturday on the final day of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships (presented by Culver's) at Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer.
The Warhawk men placed fourth with 308 team points for the week, while the women finished fourth with 332 points.
Hunter Hayberger (Sandusky, Ohio/Sandusky) capped his strong weekend for the men, reaching the podium for the second time with a 16:40.29 in the 1,650-yard freestyle, good for fifth place.
Joe Wenszell (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Virtual Learning) medaled in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.92 in the "A" final, good for eighth place.
Hayberger and Wenszell joined
Donny Gramer (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore) and
Zach Miller (Saukville, Wis./Port Washington) to finish fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:11.12.
Individually, Miller concluded his career with a 10th-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle in 46.91 seconds.
Tyler Popke (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) finished 11th in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:13.54 during his final meet.
Gianna Gnewuch (Madison, Wis./Verona Area) earned her first medal for the women with an eighth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke. She recorded a time of 2:13.87.
Gabby Sponseller (Goshen, Ind./Concord) collected her second medal of the meet with a 2:29.32 in the 200-yard breaststroke for a third-place finish.
Anna Yeazel (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) also earned her second breaststroke medal of the week with a time of 2:35.58 in the 200, good for eighth place, to conclude her career as a four-time individual medalist.
Abby Thompson (De Pere, Wis./De Pere) registered her fourth career individual medal in her final meet, placing fourth in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:13.90.
Sponseller teamed with
Ciara Hynes (Eureka, Mo./Eureka),
Makenna Clark (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) and
Morgan Nabors (Spring Green, Wis./River Valley) to finish fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:39.48.
On Friday, Fohlmeister and
Ryan Corfield (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) were recognized as members of the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team. Fohlmeister also swam her final UW-W race Friday, finishing 13th in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:06.33.
