The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's swimming and diving teams continued competition Thursday on the second day of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships (presented by Culver's) at Schroeder Aquatic Center in Brown Deer.
The Warhawk men and women remain fourth in their respective standings with 116 team points and 101 team points, respectively.
Gabby Sponseller (Goshen, Ind./Concord) led the women with a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley. She took more than one second off her preliminary time for a career-best 2:13.97.
Emily Connell (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower),
Makenna Clark (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West),
Ciara Hynes (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) and
Morgan Nabors (Spring Green, Wis./River Valley) teamed up in the 200-yard freestyle relay for a time of 1:39.65, good for fourth place.
For the men,
Hunter Hayberger (Sandusky, Ohio/Sandusky) finished sixth in the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 4:43.45 to reach the podium.
The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team of
Zach Miller (Saukville, Wis./Port Washington),
Donny Gramer (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore),
Joe Wenszell (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Virtual Learning) and
Anthony Mrozowski (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) finished fourth in the race with a 1:25.55.
Action continues Friday with preliminaries at 10 a.m. and finals at 6:30 p.m.
