The No. 23 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bowling team recorded two more wins Sunday on the third and final day of Arkansas State's Mid-Winter Classic at Hijinx Family Entertainment Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
The Warhawks finished up traditional games with a victory over eighth-ranked Sam Houston State, then defeated the Bearkats again by a 4-2 margin in best-of-seven Baker bracket play.
UW-Whitewater was edged 4-3 in its final bracket match against No. 1 McKendree, which it defeated yesterday in a traditional set, and placed sixth in the tournament, which included an entire field of nationally-ranked teams.
Caitlin Mertins (Racine, Wis./Park) and
Kelsey Jaeger (New London, Wis./Little Wolf) each finished among the top 10 individually in traditional games. Mertins placed ninth with 1,301 pins in six games, good for a 216.83 average, and Jaeger finished 10th overall with 1,296 in six games, good for a 216.00 average.
Mary Conneely (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) moved up to 36th Sunday to finish the weekend with 1,191 pins in six games, a 198.50 average.
Karlee Barton (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) placed 47th with a 1,144 series and a 190.67 average.
Sam Knab (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) ended the tournament in 51st with 1,131 pins, good for a 188.50 average.
