The No. 23 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater softball team is seventh after the second day of the Mid-Winter Classic at Hijinx Family Entertainment Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
The Warhawks own a total pinfall of 10,015 through two days of competition, good for an average of 200.3 per game.
UW-Whitewater earned victories in its last two traditional matches of the day, defeating No. 22 Central Missouri and 14th-ranked Maryville. The team fell earlier in the day against No. 11 Youngstown State, No. 17 Tulane and No. 2 Arkansas State.
With one traditional game left to play Sunday,
Kelsey Jaeger (New London, Wis./Little Wolf) and
Caitlin Mertins (Racine, Wis./Park) rank among the top 20 out of 65 bowlers in the field. Jaeger is ninth with a five-game total of 1,084, good for a 216.80 average, and Mertins totaled 1,059 pins in five games, good for 18th and a 211.80 average.
Mary Conneely (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) is 41st with a five-game total of 967, good for a 193.40 average.
Sam Knab (Antioch, Ill./Antioch) and
Karlee Barton (Joliet, Ill./Joliet West) are 49th and 50th, respectively. Knab recorded a 941 in five games (188.20 average), and Barton posted a 936 in five games (187.20 average).
Following one traditional game Sunday, the Warhawks will continue in the tournament with best-of-seven Baker bracket play. Competition begins at 8:25 a.m.
