Hopefully the traffic or weather on the way to Whitewater didn't make anyone late, because if they were they would've missed an exciting start to the game. Just one minute and one second into play
Ryan Boyd (Waunakee/Waunakee) buried his fourth goal of the season on a pass from
Kevin Kron (Willowbrook, IL/Benet Academy). Then, just 62 seconds later, Boyd scored again, this time on an unassisted volley.
As if two goals by the same player in the first two minutes and three seconds weren't enough, Kron scored a goal of his own at the 3:29 mark to give UW-W a 3-0 lead.
Things cooled down for about fifteen minutes before
Jonathon Fischer (Hartland/Arrowhead) jumped in on the action scoring an unassisted goal in the 21st minute, his second of the year.
The Warhawks took a less aggressive approach the rest of the half, firing off just one more shot.
Fischer had his hand in the lone goal of the second half, assisting
Logan Fye (Rockford, IL/Winnebago) on his third goal of the season.
Aaron Sesselmann (Green Bay/Notre Dame Academy) and
Yves Dietrich (Floeha, Germany/Clemens Winkler Gymnasium) combined for the shutout with the victory going to Sesselmann. The forty five minutes of action Dietrich saw in the second half was his first appearance of the year. He made three saves in that span.
Although goals scored fell in favor of the Warhawks, the Pioneers outshot the host 14-13. Carroll also won the fouls committed category with 12 to UW-W's 9.
The Warhawks will look to push their winning streak to five when they travel to conference foe UW-Oshkosh on September 28 for a 7:00 pm match.
