Read More), the men capped off the night with another shutout win.
The Warhawks generated the first half's early pressure with a
Tyler Chrisman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township) shot, a corner kick and a
Liam Treacy (Frankfurt, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) attempt saved by Duhawks goalkeeper Alexander Drexler. UW-Whitewater kept attacking after the goal, forcing another Drexler save on
Aidian Martin's (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) shot and adding looks from Chrisman and
Lorin Baettig (Gettnau, Switzerland/Kantonsschule Willisau).
Luke Konrad (Buxtehude, Germany/Buxtehude Sued) was the one to put UW-Whitewater in front in the 17th minute, with
Hayden Saul (Iowa City, Iowa/Liberty) and
Mason Diercks (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) credited on the goal that made it 1-0. The Duhawks tested
Austin Waite (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) multiple times later in the half, but Waite made four saves to help UW-Whitewater take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Warhawks controlled the second half by creating pressure after the break with shots from
Kian Delaney (Oak Forest, Ill./Victor J Andrew), Martin and Saul, plus a corner kick, while Martin's and Saul's attempts were saved. The Duhawks answered with a stretch of corners and shots from the 61st through 71st minutes, but UW-Whitewater kept the score at 1-0 before generating another attacking spell that included three shots and a corner from the 70th through 79th minutes.
UW-Whitewater was able to extend their lead with a goal from
Tyler Chrisman (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township) in the 80th minute off a Saul assist, moving UW-Whitewater from a 1-0 lead to a 2-0 advantage in the second half. Chrisman reached a total of 11 points this season, surpassing the 10-point milestone with the two point from the goal in the game.
After Chrisman's goal, UW-Whitewater handled two Duhawks corners and Waite saved a shot in the 88th minute, closing out the half and a 2-0 win.
Konrad scored the game-winning goal on his lone shot. Saul recorded assists on both goals. Waite made five saves over 90 minutes and did not allow a goal.
The Warhawks head out on the road for their second Cup game in a row, facing Wartburg in the 2026 Warhawk/Knight Cup. The game is set for Friday, October 2nd at 7 PM.
