The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's cross country teams are both ranked in the top five of their respective regions in the US Track & Field and Cross Country Preseason Rankings. The men's team is also ranked third nationally by USTFCCCA.
The men enter the season ranked second in the North Region and third nationally. The third national rank is the highest the Warhawks have been in any USTFCCCA poll. Last season, the men's team finished 10th overall in the NCAA DIII National Championship with
Christian Patzka (Black Earth, Wis./Wisconsin Heights) leading the individuals as a national runner-up. Along with Patzka, the Warhawks return
Gunner Schlender (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) (11th at Nationals),
Dan Anderson (Eau Claire, Wis./McDonell) (78th), and
Chris Allen (Downers Grove, Ill./North) (131th).
The women's cross country team placed fifth in the North Region from the USTFCCCA preseason rankings. The fifth place rank is the highest since the Warhawks joined the North Region in 2021.
Katie Erb (Winnebago, Ill./Winnebago) and Ari De La Carda lead the returners that took 3rd in the WIAC meet in 2023. The Warhawks return six out of their top seven finishers in conference. Erb (16th at Conference) and De La Cerda (17th) are joined by
Jocelyn Ramirez (Jefferson, WI/) (28th),
Payton Scoggin (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trails) (30th),
