The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's golf team finished sixth and tenth at the Warhawks' annual Spring Fling held at Riverside Golf Course in Janesville Friday-Saturday.
After an incredibly windy day Friday, nearly every team in the 16-team field shaved strokes off their totals on Saturday. The top UWW squad cut seven strokes off of their Friday score (341) for a 333 Saturday. The team's two-round total of 674 was sixth at the tournament. A second Warhawk squad carded a 365 Friday followed by a 353 Saturday. The total of 718 was good for tenth.
Individually,
Kallie Lux (Janesville, Wis./Craig) paced UW-Whitewater with rounds of 78 and 77 to tie for second at the Spring Fling.
Abbie Reiser (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) (88-84-172),
Lily Sheppard (Sherwood, Wis./Kaukauna) (89-85-174) and
Haley Myers (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) (86-88-174) each finished among the top 35 in the field of 84 golfers.
Emily Akers (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) (89-87) and
Jessica Velent (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) (86-90) each carded two-round totals of 176 followed by
Kellie Shanahan (Wauconda, Ill./Mundelein) with a 177 (90-87). Natalie Kammer (84-86-180),
Megan Honn (LaFayette, Ind./Jefferson) (98-86-184),
Sammy Galian (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) (96-90-186) and
Emma Norton (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) (94-96-190) rounded out the golfers representing UWW at the tournament.
