Reedsburg, Wis. -- The UW-Whitewater women's golf team finished second at the 2025 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship Sunday. Senior
Abbie Reiser (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) was named the WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete for women's golf on the final day of the tournament -- a full release regarding the reward will be posted early next week.
The Warhawks posted a team total of 324 Sunday in the final round of the championship. UWW's tournament total was 983 for second. Bolstered by a great first round, UW-Stout won the championship with a team total of 935.
Payton Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) led UW-Whitewater with a 244 to claim 10th individually.
Emily Akers (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) had her best round of the 54-hole championship with a 78 Sunday. She jumped 11 spots into a share of 11th with a total of 245.
Jessica Velent (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) carded a 79 in round three for a 246 - good for 15th.
Abbie Reiser (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) (254) and
Delainey Halverson (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) (255) rounded out the fivesome.
The Warhawks were represented by a number of individuals at the championship.
Norah Berken (Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna) led the way for individuals with a 249 followed by
Megan Honn (LaFayette, Ind./Jefferson) (253),
Kellie Shanahan (Wauconda, Ill./Mundelein) (258),
Elizabeth Vanderhei (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) (258),
Alexa Reed (Pewaukee, Wis./Arrowhead) (266),

UW-Whitewater will compete in the Golfweek Division III Fall Invite in Destin, Florida October 12-14 for their final competition of the fall season.
Day Two Recap
Reedsburg, Wis. -- The UW-Whitewater women's golf team slid one spot on the team leaderboard on day two of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship at the Reedsburg Country Club. The Warhawks hold third heading into the final day of competition.
Just two of the eight teams bettered their round one scores on Saturday. UW-Oshkosh cut eight strokes off of their round one total to jump four spots into second. UW-Platteville was nine strokes better on day two but remained in seventh. UW-Stout maintained the lead at +39 after 36 holes. UW-Oshkosh is +78 and the Warhawks are +83 with UW-La Crosse two strokes back in fourth.
Payton Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) and
Jessica Velent (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) were both +10 on the day. Schmidt is currently sixth on the individual leaderboard at +13 overall.
Emily Akers (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) was +14 Saturday and shared 22nd with Velent at +23 overall.
Delainey Halverson (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) (+26) and
Abbie Reiser (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) (+28) round out the UWW squad.

Payton Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis./Jefferson) Friday. The sophomore carded a 75 - just one stroke back from the individual leader after the first 18 holes.
Emily Akers (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) is among the top 15 after recording an 81.
Abbie Reiser (Washington, Ill./Washington Community) added an 83 with
Delainey Halverson (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) (84) and
Jessica Velent (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) (85) rounding out the group.
Just four strokes separate second through fifth places -- UW-Whitewater 323, UW-Eau Claire 324, UW-Stevens Point 326 and UW-La Crosse 327. UW-Stout holds a commanding lead with a team total of 304 on day one.
